Let Us Help You Transform Your Outdoor Living Space
We want to help make that dream deck a reality! Starting any new project on your home is a daunting task, especially when working with a construction company you may not know. Fortunately, when you work with Anaya Construction, you’re working with reilable, trusted professionals. Each composite deck we build is unique. However, there are a few questions that prospective customers often have. Here are a few of those questions for you up front:

What is the difference between composite and PVC decking?
Composite decking and PVC decking are definitely not the same thing. To put it simply: Composite decking blends recycled plastics with wood fibers. PVC decking is made entirely from synthetic materials.
These differences in composition can affect durability, temperature, weight, appearance, and even how the deck feels when you walk on it.
Composite decking is used more often than PVC because it can look and feel more like real wood. Many companies have even come up with methods for manufacturing their composite materials to take into account qualities where PVC decking may have previously performed better. For instance, Deckorators Surestone® Technology is more lightweight, warranted for underwater use, and resists heat.
How long do composite decks typically last?
The longevity of your composite or PVC deck depends on the materials used, area you live in and proper installation. Many companies offer anywhere from a 25 to 50-year warranty covering things like stain and fade, replacement and repair, and structural defects. To maintain warranty coverage, it is important to have your composite decking installed by a trustworthy, certified installer to ensure it is done right the first time. We will help our customers choose the right decking materials for their project and will share all details on care and warranty.
Are composite decks more expensive than cedar decks?
Yes…and no. A deck made from composite or PVC materials may be more expensive initially, but over time will save you money. Since there is no major upkeep required like staining or re-sealing, and you’re less likely to have to replace damaged boards, it can be the more economical choice long-term.
What kind of maintenance is required for composite decking?
Most composite decking companies design their materials to be low-maintenance. Some brands do make cleaning products specifically for their decking, but most recommend an occasional cleaning with soap and water. Composite decking does not need to be sealed or stained, and most come with great stain and fade warranties. However, it is important to research the specific care instructions associated with the brand of decking you choose so as not to accidentally void those warranties. If you need help finding this information, please let us know!
What about railing? Do I have options for that?
Oh boy, do you! There are many options for deck railing including aluminum railing, cable railing, cedar railing (yes, even with a composite deck), glass railing, and railing that doubles as seating. We can help suggest railing for your project based on the look you want to achieve, your home’s aesthetic, the location of your home, your budget, and more.
